Description
This is a vintage Shure phonograph preamplifier. This unit is coveted by audiophiles for its smooth warm reproduction not found in modern phono preamps. Phono preamps are necessary to reintroduce the lower frequencies removed to master vinyl records (known as the RIAA curve). Many modern mixers and consoles do not have built-in phono preamps that were standard in audio receivers from the old-days. This unit will be necessary to convert vinyl records to digital files. This unit also may be used as a microphone preamplifier and buffer amplifier (when using cables over 50 feet).
