Description

Description: Up for sale is an exceptionally rare collector's bundle featuring a premium vintage Luxman PD-277 Direct-Drive Automatic Turntable System, meticulously crafted in Japan. This true "time capsule" Complete-In-Box (CIB) assembly remains pristine and nested inside its original factory double boxes with perfectly matching serial numbers. This luxury audiophile deck features a gorgeous, dark Rosewood plinth and comes from a single-owner collection where it was maintained in a smoke-free, pet-free, and climate-controlled home. Provenance & Collector Notes This unique package includes the original nested factory double boxes displaying matching serial numbers. The outer box retains its original manufacturer ink stamps documenting its shipment from the historic Lux Audio of America headquarters at 160 Dupont St. in Plainview, NY, directly to Connecticut Audio in Cheshire, CT. This exceptional provenance firmly dates this high-end Japanese deck to its initial 1979–1981 production cycle. Operational & Cosmetic Condition Mechanical: Powered on and mechanically evaluated. The front mirror-reflex strobe window illuminates clearly. The automatic start, repeat toggle, manual mode, and oil-dampened cueing all function as intended. Please note that bench testing was conducted without connection to an amplifier or speakers, leaving the internal audio signal path unverified. Wiring & Cabling: The attached AC power cable is in structurally sound, functional condition. The hardwired RCA audio output signal cords show notable vintage wear. Distinct sections exhibit degraded outer insulation with exposed copper shielding that will require standard repair, taping, or replacement by the next owner. Red/white terminal plugs and the grounding spade wire remain physically intact. Cosmetics: The straight arm tube, counterweight, anti-skate dial, and headshell appear excellent and intact. The control knobs, stunning Rosewood plinth veneer, and brushed aluminum faceplate surface are clean with crisp, legible text. The clear acrylic dust cover with semi-freestop hinges is present and attaches firmly, showing only minor, superficial surface scrapes to the right of the emblem (see images). Boxes & Paperwork: The included factory owner's manual, illustrated technical brochure, and Lux Audio of America welcome letter are structurally intact. The inner retail box is in excellent cosmetic condition with vibrant graphics. The outer shipping box shares the matching serial number stamp (C0810097) and shows expected age-appropriate wear with a detached top flap that will be safely included inside. The molded factory styrofoam inserts remain fully functional for structural support.
