Please scroll down to view the complete description. 1/ ABOUT Up for sale is the Pioneer HPM-100, a classic vintage 4-way, 4-driver bass-reflex speaker system introduced during Pioneer’s highly regarded home audio era of the 1970s. The HPM-100 is distinguished by its large 12-inch carbon-fiber-blend woofer, dedicated 4-inch midrange, 1-3/4-inch tweeter, and Pioneer high-polymer super tweeter. Its 4-way architecture, efficient 92.5 dB sensitivity, and adjustable mid/high level controls helped make the model a notable design among vintage Pioneer loudspeakers. This pair has been professionally restored, serviced, and tested by HQaudios while preserving the original engineering, design, and vintage character of the Pioneer HPM-100. The low end has substantial weight and physical impact, while the large woofer gives the system a strong sense of scale with dynamic music. The dedicated midrange and tweeter provide a lively and articulate presentation through vocals and instruments, while Pioneer’s high-polymer super tweeter extends the upper-frequency section with the distinctive high-frequency character associated with the HPM series. The HPM-100 is particularly appealing for rock, classic rock, jazz, blues, soul, funk, vocal recordings, and other music where dynamics, rhythmic energy, and a large vintage presentation are desirable. The front-panel mid and high level controls also allow the tonal balance to be adjusted to suit the listening room and system. 4/ COSMETIC CONDITION This pair is in Excellent vintage cosmetic condition with light signs of age and previous use consistent with vintage Pioneer equipment. Please review all photos carefully, as they are part of the description. Front Baffle: The black front baffles and driver mounting areas present well overall, with the original Pioneer HPM-100 appearance preserved. Cabinet / Veneer: The walnut-finished cabinets retain their classic vintage appearance. Minor age-related finish wear and localized marks around cabinet edges/corners are present, consistent with the product's vintage age. Grilles / Driver Areas: The original black grilles are included. The grille cloth shows visible age-related wear, including a tear documented on the product service sheet. Rear Panel / Connections: The rear speaker connection areas remain present and intact as shown in the photographs. 5/ HQaudios RESTORATION & TESTING PROCESS Before Restoration The Pioneer HPM-100 pair was carefully inspected upon arrival to evaluate its overall mechanical, electrical, acoustic, and cosmetic condition. Particular attention was given to the four speaker drivers, woofer, midrange, tweeter, high-polymer super tweeter, crossover network, level controls, speaker terminals, internal connections, enclosure condition, bass-reflex system, grille areas, and overall operation of both speakers. The inspection results were used to determine the service work required for this specific pair. During Restoration Based on the inspection results, this Pioneer HPM-100 pair was restored according to HQaudios' technical standards while preserving its original engineering and operating characteristics. A speaker driver was replaced and installed as part of the documented restoration work. After Restoration Once the documented restoration work was completed, this pair underwent testing under real operating conditions. The speakers were tested for approximately 2.5 hours following the speaker driver replacement and installation. The pair was evaluated for operational performance and stereo listening behavior after the documented service work.
