Description

Excellent example of the Kenwood KR-5400, new real Hickory wood side panels, all new display LED's and stereo lamp, recapped power supply, cleaned & serviced. The metal case was treated with a protective coating and the bias was set to factory spec as well. It is ready to enjoy for many years to come. It has a lot of low end to offer should you want it as noted below. The face plate was removed, cleaned & polished with Blue Magic. The case was removed, cleaned & restored, dust was blown out from the interior. All knobs and switch covers were removed and cleaned, all potentiometers and switches were cleaned and treated with Deoxit D5 or Deoxit F100L Fader Lube for long term protection. All functions and speaker connections were tested good. Hifiengine review: Reviewed Jun 13th, 2021 by roberflas "This is one of the big receivers that came from 70's era. Sound so big and warm, is a delicious. Great tuner section with a very good sensitive and selective FM. Great in all details, up to THREE pairs of speakers, a stereo selector with only L, only R, stereo, reverse stereo and mix L+R. Full of details and sound. One of my best" Audiokarma user Ponoka writes: "The Kenwood 5400 was a very capable mid-range receiver. Purchased one new in 1976 along with pair of Altec 891a speakers. Liked my rock loud and punchy an the system did not disappoint. I agree with comment above regarding loudness button. Put it on and then adjust the base level appropriate to your room and volume. I found it unnecessary at louder volumes, but the Altec's had a lot of bass." Just Audio posted: "The Kenwood KR-5400 is the most sophisticated stereo receiver ever offered at a medium price. It delivers more power than most listeners will ever use. And it combines this performance with features and controls that rival those of more expensive separate tuners and amplifiers. Kenwood utilizes the finest parts and materials and incorporates the most advanced engineering concepts in this fine unit, to assure you of top performance through years of constant use. From preamp yo power amp to tuner section, the KR-5400 is a receiver you will find hard to beat." I am very honest about any issues that exist, just check my feedback. One buyer reviewed me as “Honest, Honest, Honest Seller”. I treat buyers like I would expect to be treated. I am a hobbyist that buys items that need help, clean/fix them up, enjoy them for a while and sometimes sell them. I do not work on other people's equipment. Check out the photos. The photos display exactly what this item is. I would like to guarantee this item. However, too many unprincipled buyers that strip parts and then wanted to return electronics as being defective force me to protect myself from this type of abuse. I will pack well and insure the package during shipping. One recent buyer stated that he thought that his unit could have been dropped from a truck at highway speed and still survived intact. · Nothing else, no further warranties or guarantees are implied. This vintage item is being listed and sold AS-IS because of parts swappers, people hooking stuff up wrong and scammers.
