Description

Improved upon the original, with a SoundSmith ruby cantilever and Fritz Gyger Line Contact stylus. This re-tipping service cost $475 alone. This cartridge will blow away anything in its price point, and most cartridges below $2000. From SoundSmith site: For those who demand the best, this is one of our our top-shelf capability upgrades for upgrading almost any cartridge or styli assembly. We install a Ruby Single Crystal cantilever which holds a Nude Optimized Contour Contact Line Diamond. This diamond shape closely resembles the actual cutting stylus that is used to create the master record, resulting in a near perfect tracing of the record groove walls. The Contact Line Diamond has three times the contact area in the vertical direction of the groove wall lowering the force per unit area on both the diamond and the record groove, and resulting in lower record and diamond wear. This combination creates an ultra low mass system, capable of the finest reproduction from your cherished vinyl. This upgrade can be done to almost any cartridge and stylus assembly, and again, often allows reduction of tracking force. Description: Since its debut in 1978, this cartridge has been widely accepted as the best high output moving coil cartridge at its price point and well beyond. First released in 1978 and recipient of the prestigious (at the time) Design and Engineering Award at the Chicago CES in both 1978 and 1981. Improvements: MC Cartridge Stylus - Along with several exclusive Dynavector technologies that include Magnetic Flux Damping, Softened Magnetism (Patent) and powerful neodymium magnets that provide the smooth treble response Dynavector are renowned for. These improvements ensure secure tracking ability over even the most torturous of record grooves whilst achieving extended high frequency response and enhanced musical resolution. Specifications: Output voltage: 2.5mV Channel separation: 25dB at 1kHz Frequency response: 20 to 20,000Hz Tracking force: 1.7g (+-0.2g) Cartridge weight: 4.6g Load impedance: 47 kOhms Stylus: Fritz Gyger Note! This is a very delicate cartridge/cantilever, as it is naked and exposed, with no stylus guard. I can't be responsible for fumble-fingers snapping it off during unpacking or installation.
