Description
Up for sale is a beautiful, matched pair of vintage JBL 077 "Crystal Slot" ultra-high frequency super tweeters with original factory blue diaphragms! Both drivers are in excellent cosmetic condition. The acrylic lenses are bright and transparent, showing no yellowing, no internal clouding, and no cracks, fractures, or scratches. The cast metal housings look great with clean finish and minimal wear. Please note that these have not been tested through a live audio system. However, they have been carefully tested for continuity using a digital multimeter. Both drivers read squarely within the healthy factory operational range: * Driver 1: 5.6 Ohms DCR * Driver 2: 6.2 Ohms DCR Based on these matched numbers, and the visual state of the voice coil rings, this pair seem to show strong internal health and electrical continuity. The rear housings do not feature the back plates, meaning they do not have individual SN. However, one driver has what appears to be an original hand-written factory quality control inspector mark on the bottom. Several physical indicators—including what looks to be gasket compression imprints on the mounting flanges, the screw-hole thread wear, dried residue on the silver center spacer rings, and the matching early-era blue diaphragms— lead me to believe that these were most likely factory-installed components pulled from a set of cabinets ( probly the JBL L65 Jubal or L300 Summit). In these setups, the components were covered under the serial number of the entire cabinet rather than being issued individual retail badges. Which could very well be why these are missing the plates. These drivers came from a collector who passed, having been safely packaged and stored. The exact history of these drivers is a best guess due to lack of individual SN and information regarding where they came from. These visual indicators are the only thing to go off of that point to them having been a factory set. Non the less, they are beautiful and their numbers are great. These will be individually wrapped and packed securely for shipping.
