Description

These are Gauss woofers, 5600 series or 5800 series that have been stripped down to their castings and restored with functionally and historically accurate 4583FXR kits. Where possible, the original spider rings were completely stripped and rebuilt with totally new moving parts including voice coils, spiders and tinsel leads. In other cases we made spider rings out of casting resin and outfitted those will all new terminals (Brass), solder lugs and tinsel leads. What is a 4583FXR? It's basically a 4583F or a 5831F with a vastly upgraded spider suspension (dual, of course) that permitted a much greater "X-max" and a voice coil that is based on a Kapton former instead of an Aluminum one. This model of Gauss 4 inch coil speaker was rated at 300 watts continuous RMS (see spec sheet) and they would most certainly do that and more! Gauss engineers, in an abundance of caution, "down-rated" this particular model of woofer to account for the "softer" suspension afforded by the foam edge. That said, the voice coil is the same as in the "3A" series and, if you can watch low-frequency peaks, these, along with improvements in adhesives, tinsel leads and voice coils will probably do 500 watts RMS and 2 kilowatts on peaks, without electrical damage (the voltage capacity of the coils is the same). Shown is a representative voice coil of the "3" or "Extended Bass" series Gauss woofers before we install the second spider. All voice coils installed in Gauss speakers that we build will have similar heavy gauge, "high metal content" 12ga tinsel lead and precisely shaped loops to allow for full excursion of the coil while maintaining critical control of the leads themselves. As of this listing I have 8 woofers. All are Alnico magnet based. While JBL speakers will sing you a sweet lullaby at any level, Gauss speakers tended to beat you senseless over the head until you were forced to submit! You'll love 'em! These woofers are not for collectors, but for working musicians or home music enthusiasts that like their music incredibly loud for hours on end! The speakers are all painted original Gauss Almond White and a Satin Black on the magnet caps, so they look as good as they sound! The discount shipping rate is for continental US addresses only. All others are actual cost! Thank you for checking out my listing! PEACE!
