The H.H. Scott Type 122 is a vintage vacuum-tube Dynaural Stereo Control Center Preamplifierproduced between 1960 and 1961. Manufactured by the American audio pioneer H.H. Scott in Cambridge, Massachusetts, it is highly sought after by vintage audio collectors. [1, 2, 3]Core Features Tube Complement: Uses 10 x 12AX7 tubes for the preamp stage, plus additional specialized tubes (such as Telefunken EM84s) for its noise-reduction circuit. [1] Dynaural Noise Suppressor: A signature H.H. Scott technology designed to automatically filter out record surface noise and crackle without diminishing the audio frequency range. [1, 2, 3, 4] Historical Rarity: It carried a premium price tag of $285 at launch and had a relatively short production run, making it quite rare today. [1, 2] This is in exceptional condition for its age. Face plate is real nice with a couple spots where someone scratched the letter M but you will have a hard time seeing it and also a nick in lower left corner and some of the numbers around the loudness knob are missing. These don't come up for sale that often and when they do they disappear quickly. They fly under the radar and Ive done quite a bit of testing and comparisons with the Marantz 7. The Scott 122 mirrors the 7 in so many ways it's crazy. The biggest difference in my opinion is that it has a little more gain than the 7. Don't wait to buy, it will be gone next time you look.
