Professionally rebuilt using a modern heavy-duty ribbed paper cone assembly, as original Gauss 4580/5840 cone kits are no longer available. The replacement cone was selected for its excellent combination of strength, rigidity, low moving mass, and musical accuracy, preserving the performance characteristics that made these drivers popular in professional bass and sound-reinforcement applications. What Is A Gauss 4580? One of Gauss' most popular professional 15-inch loudspeakers, the 4580 was designed primarily for electric bass guitar and sound reinforcement duties. It combines strong low-frequency output with excellent upper-bass and lower-midrange response. Unlike many dedicated bass drivers, the 4580 provides enough upper-frequency extension to perform exceptionally well in keyboard, electric piano, and other musical instrument systems when paired with a quality high-frequency driver. The 4580 utilizes a Kapton voice-coil former, while the otherwise similar 5840 employs an aluminum former.
