Description

Offered for sale is a Yamaha CA-700 integrated amplifier, a landmark model in Yamaha's audio history and the company's first integrated amplifier. Introduced in the early 1970s, the CA-700 established many of the design principles that would later define Yamaha's legendary Natural Sound series. Designed and manufactured in Japan during the golden age of hi-fi, the CA-700 combines exceptional build quality, elegant industrial design, and a surprisingly sophisticated feature set. Among its highlights are dedicated phono inputs for both MM and MC cartridges, pre-out/main-in connectivity, and the smooth, detailed sound signature that has made these amplifiers highly sought after by collectors and vintage audio enthusiasts. This particular amplifier has undergone extensive servicing. All major functions have been verified, and the amplifier performs as intended. The power supply has also been professionally converted for operation on North American 117V mains, eliminating the need for an external step-down transformer. Cosmetically, the amplifier remains in very good vintage condition for its age. As expected from a component that is over 50 years old, minor scratches, scuffs, finish wear, and discoloration are present in places and may not be fully captured in photographs. Please note that the MIC level control knob is a period-correct aftermarket replacement and is not original to the amplifier. Please review all pics carefully, as they form an important part of the description. Important Vintage Equipment Disclaimer While significant effort has been invested in servicing and restoring this amplifier, it remains a piece of vintage electronic equipment that is more than 50 years old. Like any collectible audio component of this era, it may occasionally require adjustment, maintenance, troubleshooting, or future repairs. Vintage electronics can be unpredictable, and long-term reliability cannot be guaranteed regardless of the extent of refurbishment performed. This amplifier is not being represented as new or fully rebuilt, but rather as a well-maintained vintage component operating properly at the time of sale. It is being offered to enthusiasts who understand and appreciate the unique character and occasional quirks of classic hi-fi equipment. The amplifier will be carefully packed and shipped with appropriate protection to ensure safe delivery.
