Klipschorn Corner Horn Floorspeakers Vintage Hi-Fi from 1957 Stunning Collector grade local pickup in Milwaukee, WI Cosmetic Condition: Overall we rated this at Excellent. * unfortunately there is a new "deep scratch" on the face of one speaker that has occurred recently. We will update with photos soon. The price has been lowered to account for this. Fully tested and working well. Behold, the exceptionally rare Klipschhorn Corner Horn speakers, from 1957. These speakers are about as 'near-mint' as you can get for a nearly 70-year-old pair of speakers. The grilles are still perfect, all the drivers are original and sound wonderful. The photos (we can only post 25 pix) only begin to demonstrate the beauty and precision of the design as well as the immaculate condition these are in, the only real 'knock' on these is that the red badge on the back of one of the horns is missing, the intact horn and the one with the missing badge are both pictured. The 1957 Klipschorn is a legendary three-way, fully horn-loaded loudspeaker designed by Paul W. Klipsch for corner placement, offering exceptionally high efficiency and low distortion. As part of the Heritage series, 1950s models often featured specialized components and were designed to utilize corner walls to extend bass response, standing about 4.5 feet tall. There is a motor and "vibrato" rotating baffle installed in one of the speakers. It is driven by an electric motor, with an independently wired AC cable. We haven't been able to verify that is is original from the Klipsch factory, there are no apparent mods, so perhaps it was a factory option at the time. The motor / rotator is untested at this point. Type: 3-way folded horn-loaded speaker. Drivers (Mid-50s): 15" Woofer, Midrange Horn, Tweeter. Components (Circa 1957): The woofer horn throat was transitioning from 6" to 3" for improved 400-500Hz response, and often used the Atlas K-55-V Alnico magnet driver, which was introduced around that era. Sensitivity: Extremely high (approx. 100dB+), designed to work with early 10-20 watt tube amplifiers. Impedance: 8 or 16 ohms (varied by specific crossover/driver, though 8 ohm compatible became standard later). Dimensions: Approximately 50-52 inches tall, ~31 inches wide, and ~28 inches deep. For 1957, these units were typically hand-built in Hope, Arkansas, using birch plywood, featuring early versions of the "Type A" or similar crossover network. You can see the details of hand-craftsmanship in some of the pictures, like the hand-stamped serial numbers and hand-wired components.
